The Zi Xia bridge which is located in Xiaoshan district, needed strengthened and retrofitted in 2016, because the original designed capacity load can’t meet the actual usage anymore. The retrofitting plan primarily includes strengthening the bridge slab by CFRP wrap bonding. The bridge is 65meter long span, 40meter width. The total strengthening area is over 3000sqm, total construction cost is USD445,477. It took 65 days to complete the whole project. The unidirectional carbon fiber fabric 300gsm, with 50cm width, every single length is cut to 40meters to run in the transversal direction. The project passed the inspection by professional inspecting institute and was approved by the related parties. Finally, after CFRP wrap strengthening, the serving life of the bridge is efficiently extended, and the maintenance cost is greatly reduced in the future.
