Basalt fiber fabric is woven from continuous basalt roving, which is made directly from basalt rock(lava) without any additives. So it’s an eco-friendly material, green material. This fabric is woven from 300tex basalt fiber yarn, oriented at 0/90 degree. The tensile strength of basalt fiber yarn can reach 4200MPa, elastic modulus can reach 100GPa. Although it’s a bit weaker than carbon fiber, it’s still a good alternative because of its low price and eco-friendliness. Besides, basalt fiber has its own advantages such as low thermal conductivity, wide serving temperature range from -269℃ to 700℃ so that it can be used in heat protection, friction, filament winding, marine, sports and construction reinforcements.
